Certain transfer operations, such as tendering and gangways, may limit what is possible.

Guests with limited mobility may not be able to go ashore when they want to, or at all, in some ports.

Dress code

Smart casual in the dining rooms, with Dressy Nights

Dining rooms require shirts or cover-ups and footwear indoors. Smart casual attire is appropriate.

Shorts, beachwear, tank tops and distressed jeans are not permitted in table service restaurants.

Solo travelers

Dedicated solo staterooms with no single supplement on Pinnacle Class

Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam and Koningsdam have Single Ocean View staterooms with twin beds and a large picture window, about 127–172 square feet, with no single supplement to pay.

Solo Verandahs arrive on Oosterdam sailings from Fall 2027.

The Standby List and the Have It All package give solo travelers more budget-friendly options across the fleet.

Daily gratuities

US $18.00 per guest per day, or US $20.00 in a suite

Holland America calls it Crew Appreciation and adds it to your onboard account daily.

A 20% service charge is added to drinks, specialty dining covers and bar items; 18% on spa and salon.

Drink packages

Quench, Signature and Elite packages — all have a daily drink limit

Quench: up to 15 non-alcoholic drinks a day.

Signature: up to 15 drinks a day in total. Zero-proof drinks count toward that limit.

Elite: unlimited zero-proof drinks, plus a limit of 15 alcoholic drinks a day.

Minimum age

Nobody under 21 may book, and any guest under 21 must share a stateroom with someone 21 or older

For family groups booking multiple staterooms, the minimum in each room is 16, if traveling with a parent or legal guardian.

Where minors travel with only one adult 21 or over, every guest must hold a valid passport.

Loyalty program

Mariner Society — Star, Two-Star, Three-Star, Four-Star and Five-Star Mariner

All guests are enrolled automatically after their first completed cruise.

Status is built on “Cruise Day credits”, earned from cruise days, onboard purchases, and double days for guests who book a suite.

There are five levels, each with its own set of benefits.

What the rules say

• Holland America Line: Staff are not allowed to carry scooters or wheelchairs heavier than 100 lbs. The Captain makes the final call on helping guests with limited mobility, based on weather, location and the weight of the guest or device.
