Wheelchair accessible cruises
The short answer
Every major cruise line has wheelchair-accessible cabins, with wider doors, roll-in showers and grab bars. They are few on each ship, so book early. Help getting on and off is usually offered at the home port; on board, most lines expect you to bring or rent your own chair.

Celebrity Cruises: Accessible staterooms have wider doors, roll-in showers, grab bars, a lower sink and vanity, a higher toilet and ramped thresholds.

What the rules say
Carnival Cruise Line: Wheelchair assistance is offered only when you board and leave at the home port — not on board and not at ports of call.

Norwegian Cruise Line: Norwegian has a limited supply of wheelchairs on board, kept for getting on and off the ship. Emergency rentals are first come, first served.

Princess Cruises: You can pre-reserve a wheelchair or other mobility device from Princess's listed vendors, and it is delivered to your stateroom.

Three things to do when you book
- Book the accessible cabin early — there are only a few per ship.
- Ask for wheelchair help at the terminal, even if you walk most of the time.
- Reserve a rental chair or scooter to be delivered to your cabin, if you do not bring your own.
